John's Badge
John did it! He has his badge! We are all very proud of him! It was an awesome ceremony and lots of fun to watch all the new Officers get their badges. Tristan was kept busy throughout the ceremony with food! He did a great job and so did his Aunt Mellie! She took care of him so I could take pictures. As you can see from the picture John's Dad also works for Thornton. He used to be a Officer then a horrible car accident took him off the road. Now he works as the Armorer for the entire PD, a one man job. The Thornton Police Chief was introducing all the new Officers & couldn't help but laugh when Jeff was called up to pin on Johns badge. "Keeping it in the family!", He said. My doctors appointment also went very well. The doctor was able to find the babies heart beat after looking around for a little bit. The heart rate was 179, pretty fast in my book! They also told me that my next ultrasound will be at 20 weeks along. So we have about another 8 weeks before we find out what we are having. I can wait.

Busy March 16Th

Busy, Busy, Busy! An I like it!!! Most of the time, some times I need a breather.
John is in his last week of his Mini-Academy for Thornton. He will be getting his Police Badge on Monday, March 16Th. I didn't know they have someone pin the badge on him, apparently they do. John has asked his Dad to do the honors. I am very excited and plan on being very camera happy throughout the ceremony! I know John is excited about getting out on the road. He will be riding with a training officer for about three and a half months before he is actually on his own. I'm okay with that, I like the idea of him riding with another officer. That way he his back up is always there with him.
I have been spotting since about week five of this pregnancy. (Now in week 11) My doctor did an ultrasound in week six. He said that the baby was in the right spot and measuring the correct age therefore there was nothing to worry about. He told me to just take it easy. Well since then I have been spotting randomly. I stopped running, I don't eat certain foods...and all that jazz. However, the spotting continues and at random. I don't know what causes it. I have my next doctors appointment on March 16Th. Hopefully he will take a little more interest in my situation this time. Its starting to get really frustrating. Other than the spotting this pregnancy, just like with Tristan, has been easy.
Tristan is busy in his own little world that includes chasing the cats around, chewing on Lego's, climbing on everything and of course licking his books. Tristan has gotten to the point where he can feed himself. Not with a spoon, but he can pick up food to eat it. This past trip to the grocery store we bought a lot of self feeding friendly foods. I don't feel to good about his variety though. I guess kids aren't as worried about that though. Tristan is a good eater. If anyone around him is eating anything, he wants some! He loves veggies and fresh fruit. Not to crazy about the Gerber fruits or applesauce though. When he is walking around on the furniture he will let go and stand on his own for a few seconds. He seems to be doing this more and more. If he is ever crawling over hard floor he will pick up a bear crawl. John says that is a sign he is getting closer to walking. We will see.

College & Reading
I got a hold of the local Community college yesterday and I am going to try and start taking classes. I'm not sure yet how its all going to work out but hopefully the GI Bill is going to help out a lot. After I apply and get accepted they are going to have me take a test to see what classes would be best for my Math and English skills. I don't know if they do this for everyone or just people who have been out of school for awhile, but I'm glad they are doing it. I was kinda worried about getting stuck in a class that was way above me! I really hope this all works out. Since the job market just isn't really being very kind, I think this will be the next best thing. I have no idea what I'm going to study. I am going to start with the basic classes and hopefully figure something out. I have never had to think about what I wanted to be when I grow up cause I thought for so long I was going to stay in the Army for 20 years. I'll figure it all out! Slowly!
Tristan is amazing! Everyday it's something new with him. He is at a point where he likes to Go Go Go! The park is our friend right now. Tristan loves the walk over and exploring everything there. I can't wait to get him in the swimming pool this summer! He loves water and is going to love the pool no doubt. Swimming leasons are going to be a must for him this summer. Tristan has alot of books and he loves all of them. He flips through the pages and looks at the pictures. He also likes to lick the pages as he turns them! He is silly! I have had to put a few of his books away because he has gotten them so soggy they were falling apart! This is a short, non eventful video of Tristan "reading" on 28 Feb 09.

First Zoo Visit
Tristan's first visit to the zoo was exactly like I had expected it to be. John and I knew he wasn't ready to go but it was 'Free Day', so we figured why not?! He didn't pay any attention to the animals. There was a very large Sea Lion sun bathing and yelling at everyone that he didn't notice. For the first time ever since I have been going to the zoo, the Elephants were playing with each other and making a ton of noise. Tristan was more interested in his juice! It did turn out to be a beautiful day though, so I'm glad we went.
Find The Ball
Tristan is showing me that all my nagging about where these stupid balls are is starting to pay off! This was a great Birthday present from my son. He never disappoints his mama! After I took this one I tested him with book and he knew those as well. This video was taken 17 Feb 09.
